PDP Promises the RESTORATION OF THE PLATEAU PEACE AND TOURISM SECTORS IN BUILDING A STRONGER ECONOMY

All is now set for the official commissioning of the PDP restoration network and the plateau state chapter is wasting no time in its tracks as regards the party’s quest for victory in the coming elections. It is true they say, “he who fails to plan plans to fail” that is why the state chapter of the restoration network has gone to work in preparing for its soon coming task of restoring the states glory in peace, tourism and commerce before the world as it plans to build a strong economy for the good people and the Nigerian nation at large when its candidates emerge victorious come the 2019 general elections. .
Economic growth and development is a critical aspect that affects every nation as it sets the tone for living standards of the people and progress of the nation. It is a task so sensitive and so much that concerns it rests upon the blend between the government’s responsibilities and that of the people.  This means, the success or failure of an economy rests a great deal upon its leadership abilities and the peoples efforts as well. Amongst these responsibilities, we have policy implementations favorable to economic activities, infrastructural development, as well as the security of lives and properties of the people. Owing to this, it is very important that capable hands should be the ones elected into positions of government. Those capable of having a the required vision in sensitive positions, those capable of surrounding themselves with the best and brightest minds and those who would pay attention to the voice of the people in making decisions that will serve the nation’s best interest.
Through time, we have seen undeveloped and weak economies grow into economic giants in so many places and this is achievable not through wishful thinking but through well-meaning policy implementations and active participation of the public and private sector in the economic process. Economies like that of China, Indonesia, south Korea, and India amongst others were able to overturn their economic status and elevate the living conditions of the people through government actions in infrastructural development, policies implementation and support for Small and Medium Enterprises over the last few decades and today, they have found their place in the front rows of global economic powers and yet, they show no sign of backing down as they press on to greater heights. China for example states that with the next decade 20% of its population will be multi-millionaires and this will position it to become the world’s largest economy.
Coming back home, Plateau state, like many other states in our nation is richly blessed with Human and Naturel resources and has the potentials of growing an economy strong enough to stand toe to toe with the likes of Lagos, Rivers, Akwa ibom, kano and other states alike. In time past, economic activities like Tin mining and tourism put the state on global economic maps as its activities drew investors and tourists from different destinations thereby generating good revenue for further development, through it all, the people were able to capitalize on that economic climate in having a decent standard of living too. Besides just attracting tourists, the states cool climatic condition makes it unique location for the cultivation of certain agricultural products likes the popularly known Irish Potatoes, straw berries and so many vegetables that are demanded in large quantity across the length and breadth of the nation. Again, in this very state existed the all mighty Jos International Breweries, the iconic terminus main market structure (the then largest built market in west Africa) the Gold and base mining company, the bricks molding mining corporation and other great business establishments capable of generating billions of naira and creating a world class economy and tourist location.
So, how did it all go wrong? How did the many different companies and factories shut down operations over time with the coca cola bottling plant being the latest to do so and as a result lay a large number of its employees off? How did the state turn from a reputable tourist location to having our tourism industry deteriorate out of shape? How did the margin of our agricultural output shrink as a result of the brutality our farmers face in the hands of evil perpetrators as they work their farm lands? And most of all, what could be done about it? Just like any other nation, people and location in this world, trying times will come, difficulties will arise and storms will rage, but what matters most at the end of the day is our ability to pick ourselves up and push further ahead avoiding the temptation of time wastage in the blame game. We must forget the pitfalls of yesterday, put in our very best today and trust in God as we work harder to build a brighter tomorrow. For failure isn’t in falling to the ground or getting it wrong, refusing to pick yourself up to try again and again is the true disaster and this draws the thin line between success and failure.
The government has to step up in its responsibility to the people and the economy.  Policies must be implemented to attract investors in different sectors, our tourism industry has to be revived and developed into world class standards, our agricultural industry must be developed vast enough to serve large scale economic purposes, our people must have access to the much needed finical support system in transforming their million dollar ideas into large industries and corporations to serve and improve the economy and the standards of living; our people must feel and remain safe as they go about their activates in the farms and market places and most of all, the government must live up to its responsibility of putting the people first always and every time as these are the ingredients that will surly make all the difference given the required attention and support.
Dr Umar Mantu, the national convener of the PDP restoration network who is scheduled to be officially commissioning the plateau state secretariat of the network stated that “the network serves as part of efforts towards ensuring the party emerges victorious in all the elective positions in the coming elections” as he believes the party will be providing leaders capable of turning the dynamics and bringing our economy back on the progressive track.
At the last general elections, Nigerians were convinced into voting in an administration that made so many promises, but four years down the line, nothing of true substance has been achieved. Unemployment stands on a higher percentage, poverty is at its all-time high and insecurity seems an even bigger problem than it ever was. Yet, today, they hand us even more promises, seeking our votes once again at the coming elections. Standing where their leadership has led us today, it will indeed be unfair to drag ourselves down this road again. We must all understand that perception is not reality, it is merely what you feel not what you see and in this case, they want us to feel as though their promises carries so much hope for us, but looking back at the last four years, what do you see?
In just a few decades, a wide desert was turned into a beautiful tourist haven and a world class economy raking billions of dollars in annually through diversification and brilliant economic policies. This is what its leader His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, ruler of Dubai and driving force to its greatness had to say in his book MY VISION as regards nations and leadership “when leaders are seen to have the ability to foresee the future as well as the path leading to it, then, they are the best to be handed the power of government to fulfill the promise. However, if we find them wanting or failing to deliver for any reason, we must have them relinquish power to others more capable of realizing the vision”. The time has come for the people to make their choice as to whom they will trust with the affairs of the next four years of this great nation and people. We must have the lives and properties of our people feel secure again, we must stair our economy back on track again and most of all, we must get Plateau state and Nigeria working again.

difference between supporting ''Biafra'' and supporting ''Nnamdi Kanu

Biafra, officially the Republic of Biafra, was a secessionist state in eastern Nigeria that existed from the 30th of May, 1967, to January 1970. It took its name from the Bight of Biafra, the Atlantic bay to its south. The inhabitants were mostly the Igbo people who led the secession due to economic, ethnic, cultural and religious tensions among the various peoples of Nigeria. Other ethnic groups that constituted the republic were the Efik, Ibibio, Annang, Ejagham, Eket, Ibeno and the Ijaw among others.

The secession of the Biafran region was the primary cause of the Nigerian Civil War, also known as the Biafran War. The state was formally recognised by GabonHaitiIvory CoastTanzania, and Zambia. Other nations which did not give official recognition, but provided support and assistance to Biafra included IsraelFranceSpainPortugalNorway,RhodesiaSouth Africa and the Vatican City.[2][3][unreliable source?] Biafra also received aid from non-state actors, including Joint Church AidHoly Ghost Fathers of Ireland, Caritas InternationalMarkPress and U.S. Catholic Relief Services.[3][unreliable source?]
After two-and-a-half years of war, during which over three million Biafran civilians died in fighting and from starvation occasioned by the total blockade of the region by the Nigerian government, Biafran forces under the motto of "No-victor, No-vanquished" surrendered to the Nigerian Federal Military Government (FMG), and Biafra was reintegrated into Nigeria.[4]

President Buhari reacts to Cameron’s corruption comments on Nigeria

ria’s President Muhammadu Buhari has reacted to comments made by British Prime Minister David Cameron that the country is one of the most corrupt in the world
‘Nigeria fantastically corrupt’ - British PM says ahead of Buhari’s visit Buhari took to his official Twitter page â€˜Nigeria fantastically corrupt’ - British PM says ahead of Buhari’s visitand shared Transparency International’s response to the diplomatic gaffe.
He captioned it: “Transparency Int’l responds to Cameron comments regarding Nigeria, Afghanistan and UK Summit”
Below is the Transparency International’s response he shared:
“Responding to the recent comments by David Cameron, Cobus de Swardt, Managing Director of Transparency International said:
“There is no doubt that historically, Nigeria and Afghanistan have had very high levels of corruption, and that continues to this day. But the leaders of those countries have sent strong signals that they want things to change, and the London Anti-Corruption Summit creates an opportunity for all the countries present to sign up to a new era. This affects the UK as much as other countries: we should not forget that by providing a safe haven for corrupt assets, the UK and its Overseas Territories and Crown Dependencies are a big part of the world’s corruption problem.”
Presidential Spokesperson Garba Shehu in a statement also said: “This is embarrassing to us, to us say the least, given the good work that the President is doing. The eyes of the world are on what is happening here. The Prime Minister must be looking at an old snapshot of Nigeria. Things are changing with corruption and everything else.”

united states' Judge Resigns After Thousands of Nude Photos of Defendants Found

An Arkansas judge accused of swapping sex for reduced sentences resigned Monday after a state commission said it discovered thousands of photographs from his computer that depicted nude male defendants.
In a letter to the Judicial Discipline and Disability Commission, Cross County District Judge Joseph Boeckmann said that his resignation was effective immediately, and that he would never again seek a job as a local, county or state employee.
Boeckmann's resignation came after the commission said in a May 5 letter to his lawyer that it was in the process of recovering as many as 4,500 photos.
"They all depict young men, many naked who are in various poses inside the judge's home and outside in his yard," the letter states, adding that many of the men had received checks from the judge and had appeared before him as defendants.
"There are numerous photos of naked young men bending over after an apparent paddling," the letter reads. "Please accept this as notice to not destroy [or] otherwise dispose of this paddle."

In documents filed earlier this year, the commission detailed the allegations of several men — including one under 18 — who described appearing in Boeckmann's court for minor violations. The judge would often give defendants his hand-written phone number and have them serve what he described as "community service" at his home.
In one case, a man described having a "sexual relationship" with the judge while he paid off fines that for which Boeckmann granted him extensions.
In another case, Boeckmann reduced a misdemeanor traffic violation and asked the defendant, identified in court documents as W.M., to bring three bags of cans to his home. After the judge offered him a drink — which he declined — "Boeckmann informed W.M. that he needed W.M. to pull 2 cans from the bags and bend over as if he were picking up the cans."
The judge then instructed him "on how to pose and spread his legs farther apart," the document states.
In documents filed in February, Boeckmann denied the allegations — saying that the photographs were used "to corroborate participation in community service."

Inventor of email and savior of the @ sign, Ray Tomlinson, is dead at 74

A computing legend has died. The inventor of email, Ray Tomlinson, suffered an apparent heart attack on Saturday, according to reports. He was 74 years old.Tomlinson sent the very first email back in 1971; at the time, he was working in Boston at Bolt, Beranek, and Newman (BBN), a company that was instrumental in the development of a very early version of the internet, called ARPANET. As an employee, he was "looking for problems [ARPANET] could solve," Tomlinson told rexxez blog in 2010.Others had thought about sending messages to other users before, and there were some early versions that let you share notes to users on the same computer, but Tomlinson came up with the SNDMSG command. Unlike what came before it, SNDMSG actually sent mail files to the recipient's computers. It was the first networked messaging program. He also decided to use the @ symbol to designate a user from its host. The decision lifted the humble symbol from obscurity to international icon — it even entered MOMA's collection in 2010. The fact it was little-used at the time made it appealing to Tomlinson, as it reduced ambiguity. Also, as he liked to say, "It's the only preposition on the keyboard."nfortunately for us, the very first email has been lost to time. As he said in an NPRinterview from 2009, they were just random strings of text. "The first e-mail is completely forgettable ... and, therefore, forgotten." Thanks to his invention, Tomlinson won't be

what actually controls world oil prices

Image result for nigeria working refineriesWorld oil prices are controlled by the amount of crude oil stored at Cushing, Oklahoma. That’s because Cushing is the pricing point for WTI (West Texas Intermediate) oil prices, the most-traded oil futures contract in the world.
Cushing Storage Rules World Oil Prices
WTI (and Brent) oil prices have good negative correlation with the volume of crude oil stored at Cushing. Comparative inventory, the present volume of oil compared with the 5-year average, and oil-price volatility, the rate at which the price of oil moves up and down, are shown in Figure 1Oil Price, Price Volatility and Cushing Stocks_FEB 2016From the beginning of 2014 until the end of July, comparative inventory fell and world oil prices were high averaging more than $100 per barrel. From August to the time of the November 28 OPEC meeting, Cushing inventories rose and oil fell below $70. OPEC’s decision not to cut production caused a spike in volatility and prices dropped to $46 per barrel by the end of January 2015.
Prices rose in February based on hope that falling rig counts would bring declining U.S. production. Rising Cushing inventories brought markets back to reality and they fell again in March (Figures 1 and 2)Cushing storage fell from mid-April to mid-June 2015 and oil prices rallied to $60 per barrel. Concerns about China’s economic growth and the lifting of sanctions on Iran added to flattening Cushing inventories and oil fell to near $38 per barrel by mid-August.
When inventories fell again in late August, prices increased to almost $50 per barrel and then plateaued until the end of October. Storage had flattened but the outlook for Chinese growth had improved as the People’s Bank of China announced stimulus measures.
From the beginning of November to the end of 2015, comparative inventories increased again and oil prices plunged below $30 per barrel with the near-collapse of China’s stock markets.
Flattening comparative inventories in early 2016 and rumors of an OPEC production cut and then, a partial OPEC production freeze moved oil prices back above $30 per barrel where they have remained through February.
Expectation and reality both influence oil prices but Figures 1 and 2 show that the reality of Cushing comparative inventory change is the dominant factor. World economic and political events have the power to affect oil prices but without support from Cushing storage levels, these changes are relatively short-lived
