ARSENAL TRANSFER NEWS: BARCA LINKED WITH OZIL MOVE

Barcelona are keen on a £30million move for Arsenal midfielder Mesut Ozil, according to reports from Spain.
Rumours emanating from local TV station BTV claim that Ozil is on Barca’s list of reinforcements for the summer despite doubts over the Catalan side’s ability to sign players due to their transfer embargo.
Barcelona are set to appeal against the transfer ban, which runs for the next two transfer windows, and the ban has temporarily been lifted to allow the appeal to take place. That has led to rumours surrounding various targets with Chelsea’s David Luiz and now Ozil said to be on the Barca wishlist.
Ozil moved to Arsenal from Real Madrid last summer for a fee of £42million but his performances have tailed off after a good start to the season. Even so, it looks unlikely the Gunners would want to part with the Germany international after just one season.
Ozil has been linked with Barcelona before. The Catalan side were keen on him in 2012, during the Cesc Fabregas transfer saga. At that time he was at Real Madrid and such a move was unthinkable, but Barca director of football Andoni Zubizaretta has dug out his file on the player and is ready to make a move.
However, there are doubts whether the move would be allowed if Barcelona aren’t successful in having their appeal granted against the transfer embargo. The next transfer window doesn’t officially open until 1 July and if the embargo is confirmed in the meantime then the ban is likely to prevent Barca from registering any players even though deals have already been agreed.
